April 25th saw our club member of the Year change hands.
The shield came about three seasons ago when it was changed from The Maurice Dale Branch Quiz Shield to The Club Member of The Year Shield. This was because interest from other Branches in the quiz dwindled.
For the first two years it was won by Derek Ling, who has always been a very strong worker for the Branch. However, this year we formed a junior committee, who between them did a lot of work for the Branch. One in particular, Reece Wiffen, stood out, and his name became the third to go on the shield. Reece has been in the Branch for two years, and during the second of these showed himself to be a very willing worker, taking on a lot of extra work helping the secretary, Iain.
Amongst the things that he came up with were posters to suppliers asking for prizes for the raffle, posters for The Easter Egg Hunt, and illustrated menus for the canteen. Iain noted at the presentation that had he not had the help from Reece, he would not have been able to cope, and that he thoroughly deserved this award. Let us hope he continues to support Ipswich Town as long as Iain has.
